Social Work Scotland are delighted to welcome colleagues from Moldovan Government and their partners to a three day study tour based in Edinburgh from 25 – 27 July.
Delegates selected Scotland for their study tour due to strong and productive existing links with the social work sector which has already resulted in aspects of our policy and practice being adapted for use in Moldova.
Working in partnership with colleagues from the Scottish Government and Mellow Parenting Organisation, the programme has been developed to explore our core legislative and policy context reflected in GIRFEC (Getting it Right for Every Child), and how this is put in to practice. Delegates will have opportunity to discuss how this strength based and human rights approach is applied across all aspects of social work, influencing funding decisions, and practice in areas such as family support, protecting children and with unaccompanied asylum seekers. While here, participants will also undertake practice visits to see trauma informed care in practice, and take part in evaluation of the Moldovan Mellow parenting programme.
The cooperation of colleagues and partners in bringing together a dynamic study tour has been exciting and we anticipate thought-provoking, and open conversation with our Moldovan colleagues about our experiences, and how this might inform their work. Social Work is an outward-looking profession, and this is an excellent reminder that we are part of a worldwide community of practice.
