Social Work Scotland Reviewing Officers conference will take place at the Albert Halls in Stirling on Tuesday 19 November 2024, 09:00-17:00.
This one-day conference will bring together reviewing officers from across Scotland, for a chance to enjoy in-person interactions whilst sharing best practice and research, with plenty space for those much-needed dynamic discussions.
The event is hosted by the Social Work Scotland Reviewing Officer subgroup – a supportive and practice driven forum who regularly share practice and ideas to improve the role and support children and young people through the looked after system. The conference is open to all reviewing officers, related managers, and interested participants.
Delegates can expect
– the launch of a Good Practice Guide developed by Social Work Scotland’s Reviewing Officers subgroup which aims to share practical guidance towards a more consistent reviewing practice across Scotland;
– networking opportunities and interactive sessions to share experiences, and learnings;
– Sharon Martin, chair of the National Independent Reviewing Officers Management Partnership (NIROMP) will give a keynote speech describing practice in England, considering areas of shared insight with Scotland; and
– Dr Helen Whincup, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Social Sciences from the University of Stirling will deliver a summary of her research ‘Permanently Progressing? Building secure futures for children: Middle childhood’ Phase 2 which builds on the findings of Phase 1.
All tickets include refreshments and lunch. If booked by 15 October, delegates will receive a significant ticket discount.
