Dear Social Work Scotland Members,

I hope you will be able to join us at Social Work Scotland’s Annual General Meeting 2020, taking place via MS Teams on Tuesday 24 November (9:30 – 1 pm). The AGM is open and free to all members, and we would be delighted to have your input in the discussions. To secure your place, if you have not already, please register at: https://www.registerforevent.co.uk/swsagm/

Attached you will find papers relating to the AGM, including the Association’s Annual Accounts for 2019-20 and accompanying Treasurer’s report, and the Call for Nominations to Board Director roles. Our agenda for the AGM provides an opportunity for you to hear about the activity of our Standing Committees and sub-groups over the past 18 months, and participate in shaping the priorities of the organisation in the years ahead. We will also be joined by Melissa Van Dyke, Expert Advisor on Implementation from the University of Strathclyde, for a conversation about leading change; a topic never more important in the context of the Promise and Independent Review of Adult Social Care, among other reforms.

In respect of the Call for Nominations to Board Director roles, please take a couple of minutes to review the relevant attached paper, and please consider putting yourself forward (or encourage others to do). Our Directors are the key governance and leadership roles within Social Work Scotland, overseeing our strategy, setting our positions in national debates, and ensuring activities are conducted properly and efficiently. All of them are filled by volunteers, members who have stepped in to represent the interests of members. Our membership boasts a considerable breadth and depth of leadership, and I hope many of you will now consider an SWS Director role. Notes of interest and nominations should be submitted to admin@socialworkscotland.org by Friday 6th November. And please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

Any questions or issues about the AGM itself, please get in touch with Flora at flora.aldridge@socialworkscotland.org.
