Social Work Scotland acknowledge the publication of the Children (Care, Care Experience and Services Planning) (Scotland) Bill and look forward to the opportunity to discuss and engage with government and the wider care sector on the areas covered as the Bill progresses through Parliament.
As the organisation representing those who hold statutory responsibilities for children in care and with care experience, we recognise the vital importance of working closely and collaboratively with partners and the Scottish Government to enhance care provision and ensure that all children’s experiences fully meet their needs. Meaningful collaboration with stakeholders – including children and families, the statutory workforce, and key partners across the third sector, education, and health – combined with a thoughtful and phased approach to implementing necessary changes, is essential to achieving the outcomes we collectively seek.
Social Work Scotland engaged in the four consultations informing the Bill, which covered central aspects of children and families social work practice, and are committed to ongoing engagement and coordination with our membership as we take time to consider and respond to the contents over the Bill in the coming months.
Previous consultation responses can be found on our Consultations page.
