We welcome the publication of the final report into the CMA consideration of the children’s social care market. Social Work Scotland actively engaged with the process and appreciate the significant effort which has gone into this piece of work.
While the provision of foster and residential care in Scotland has differences from that in England and Wales, there are many similarities, and we recognise the description of the market and issues in Scotland. CMA make some specific recommendations for Scotland and we look forward to working with the Scottish Government, partners and our members to consider and take forward improvements.
We particularly welcome recommendations and discussion about focused support for regional and national analysis of demand, and for enhancing local fostering provision.
