Key conference themes

The 2014 annual conference focused on the key themes of co-production and leadership in the light of the hugely significant year ahead for Social Work services.

In April 2014 the Social Care (Self-Directed Support) Act comes into effect, giving people more control over the services they receive and the way they receive them. This year we will also be preparing for the integration of health and social care and extending care services for young people, we will be doing this in a context of reduced budgets as well as the full impact of welfare reform. Not forgetting the run up to the independence referendum.

The conference was entitled ‘Social Work Services: With People, By People For People’. to reflect that in amongst this truly unprecedented time in Scotland we do not forget what we are all here to do – improve the lives of people.
